daddy playing his violin, he learned to play violin in the 1940's during the japanese occupation. he was tutored in violin by a certain senor valencia, a music teacher at st scholastica college. this same violin is now in a display case in my house,

this is my grand father talking with my dad 1971
he is the farmer in our family who lives in a very spartan life in his times
he died last aug31, 1971 due to intestinal

I CRY AND CRY BECAUSE I HAVE NO SHOES, UNTIL I MET A MAN WITHOUT ANY FEET

In our house then , this hangs in our door from the inside, so everytime you go out of the house you could read and ponder about what it means

DAD'S MOST MEMORABLE SPEECH. WHEN HE RETURN TO CITYHALL FROM SAN JUAM DE DIOS MAY 27.

on may 27,1999 my father was discharged from sjdh, from there he went directly to his office at city hall. we have no plans no arrangements , we just made some preparations for our van to accommodate him in the wheel chair. at the city hall we have no intention to show him to the public for he is not fit and visually weak yet, how ever at the drive way he insisted to be shown to the public and to be brought up to the mayor's office, when word spread that joc is in city hall , most of the employees swarm the entrance and try to see him in hier eyes, that he did survive the stroke.
on arriving at the 2ND floor and he conference room of the mayors office, most employees of city hall, forced their way to the mayors' office later i was surprised when my father gave a speech ad hoc, fresh from his stroke, from his more than a month confinement and brain operation..... he did a very excellent speech that day that alot of people cried. we believed that his speech that day was guided by the holy spirit which he mentioned.

at this photo my dad is being lowered from the van to be taken to his office, right after being discharged from the hospital
the photo above, after being shown to my dad, his comment was he is like " the ElCiD" being shown to his enemy

one of the welshers that day was mrs elaine cuneta

this is how daddy look like a day before his stroke, he looks haggard and tired because of staying up late and waking up early

,
THE CAUSE OF HIS STROKE WAS LACK OF SLEEP, IN CONGRESS WHEN HE HAD A STROKE DURING A COMMITEE HEARING HE WAS READING AND STUDYING ABOUT LASER ALL NIGHT.
IN 1999 APRIL HIS STROKE AGAIN WAS DUE TO HIS MONITORING OF PEACE AND ORDER AND GARBAGE COLLECTION TILL 3AM EVERYDAY

5 months before the stroke, he complains of difficulty in walking, due to his knees he uses a cane and sometimes walker or sling.

here are some rare aircraft that i have fly.... caravelle with afrench engine, Coronado 880

YS 11 nihon - a japanese built aircraft, but powered by rolls royce dart engine, his is the bulk of philippine airlines prop fleet in the 70's. this is the most succesful japanese aircraft since ww2. until 2008 some local philippine airline company used these.

fokker 50 used my PAL air manla and Filipinas Airways. this is made to compete with C47 in the 1960's this is a Dutch company that make Fokker 70, 100.

lockheed elecktra L 188 i have flown this tye of aircraft from Davao to manila in a red eye flight (mercury flight)it is a 4 engine prop jet, it is one of he last props to enter service.

i have fly in one of these caravelle jets from Taipe to manila in 1974, China airline, during those times ROC was still under martial law

BAC 111 - is the first aircraft type ive flown in 1965 from manila to Bacolod , i was 5 years old then. when we reach Bacolod, we right away boarded to the return flight home.

this is one of the classic jets of its time, convair coronado , much smaller than a 707 and a DC8 but has a much higher speed . it lost to boeing and mcdonel douglas because it has fewer tha 30 seats that boeing and mcdonnel douglas

Maestro alarm system , made by israelei military industry, i have this installed in my home, it is probabby the most sophisticated alarm now

it has infra red alarm and perimeter alarm system. it can differentiate the infra red signature of a dog from a human, and can memeorize the usual infrred signature of family memebers, it will give a chime if it is a regular/family or and alarm if the signature is new.

it has remote calling to cellphone, with remote arm and disarm.
but it never did have failed us during our test.

only draw back is its high uasage of battery

Asian hospital

This hospital is 15 kilometres away from our house is a modern design hospital, it has air pressure air con / system in which all flow of ventilation was supposed to go one way, it is really a boutique hospital, with a lobby very similar to a DE luxe hotel lobby. there is a grand piano, designer coffee houses, and fine foods. how ever during my mother's stay at this hospital, we were not able to enjoy its facilities due to tensions and medical drama we experience here.

this is Asian hospital. in 2004 i almost lost my mother at this hospital.
this is one of the most modern hospital in the Philippines, while my mother s in the emergency room, i stayed at the chapel alone, i prayed the rosary 5x.
it was a close call to my mother. I was expecting the worst or probably the end for her, she was brought to ICU for 2 weeks and then to a room. every time my mother is sick she is so silent, not talking to anyone just blank staring, it makes my heart cry.
If only I could trade up with my parents some strength from my body and a few more years from my life i really would.

after 3 weeks, she was released from the hospital but his condition was still very weak, after 2 days in the house, she was brought again to Makati medical center for confinement after 2 days, another shock of my life, her urine output was decreasing and her bp is 50 / 40 , and her blood is not being filtered by her kidney, with creatinine levels, quite alarming.

at the ICU, my heart breaks to see my mother again in a very sad condition.
during these days i was about to end my novena to st Philomena, during the last day of the novena, as i was travelling to quiapo church, i received a call from my sister Theresa that mommy will be released and be home at the end of the day.

that was a great relief for me...

globe blackberry push email in the philippines is frustrating

my mothers creatinine

he result of creatinine is a little high , from 176 last year next test was 179.86, 172 then 185....last feb 2 was 199 and now it was 220 mg / dl of creatinine, if this is so high she has to have dialysis, well dialysis is crea level of 450 mg/dl it is still way below but im not taking any chances,

so starting tomorrow, we have to amend the diet of mommy to pasta pancit card diet, low in protein. proteins is taxing to her kidneys, carbohydrate seems ok because she is regularly taking insulin

sometimes I'm very frustrated in preparing food for my mother who has diabetes, kidney disease and heart disease, some critics always have some unsolicited advice that some food i prepare are not right.because it may increase uric acid if i prepare tofu or beans, yes i know but i think that is lesser evil. she has been in a no milk, no eggs, no meat diet and still some critics irk me who blames me ...... that my cooking is oily and wrong that i used agi ginisa......
it is easy to comment. it is really a famine or feast, one food type is good for one of her organ bu is not beneficial to others. like tofu and beans.

seeing her eat vegetables is a big step in the right direction, Iam sure if I did not convince her to be vegetarian her creatinie level might be several points higher.
today while I'm writing this blog I'm very upset to some who react about my method of cooking............

I did make research about this

im perfecting this lately.... deglazing sauce.. i put brandy or wine in used pan to make sauces

I use the meat dripping, add wine or brandy, heat up stove, scrape gently, add soup stock, onions, garlic, milk and saoy sauce, corn starch mix it to totally dissolve the corn stach, salt and pepper. to adjust taste

piracy in the horn of african, caught in US Navy camera

pirates attacking a container ship in daylight
piracy is not just a territorial crime but crime against mankind that can be tried anywhere in the world, no territorial jurisdiction

MY HATE SCALE.. In a scale of 1 to 10. the "10s" are the people who are unruly drunk. who borrow strength and courage from the spirit of alcohol

I lost my 2.5 m Volvo due to the intoxication of my driver
MAIKSI ANG PASENCYA KO SA MGA LASENGERO, ISANG BESES MGA POLICE NA MOBILE NA NAG IINUMAN AT LASING AY PINA ARESTO KO AT PINATANGAL SA PAG KA PULIS. MINSAN MGA KA CONTEMPORARY NG AKING AMA, NA NAG REREKLAMO SA AKIN NG LASING SYA AY PINAGAGALITAN KO.

ISA ITO SA KINA SUSUKLAMAN KO , ANG MGA LASING NA HAMBOG
what annoys me most are people who drink too much and becomes unruly. who gathers courage and hide inhibitions after drinking.
I know several people who have that reaction to alcohol, my patience is very long but i just cant stand those people around me.
there are several instances that men older than me, who becomes unruly i just cant control myself, it happen alot. one time , those people who are so nice when sober are like demons when drunk, one time a close friend of my father called me up and complain about some things , while he is drunk, i really lost my temper and i was able to tell him directly that." yung tapang mo kunukuha mo lang sa alak" i lost a friend , a supporter perhaps.

deep in my heart, i remember all the names and places of these people who are so nice when sober and so sorry when drunk..

some of my favorite things.....

sawarma or gyros with cheese and yougart sauce

fish bal with sauce are the best in the "kalya"

my favorite fries is swarzalder, next is mcdonalds

this is pugo eggs in orange batter deep fried, with vinegar

on my way home today i make a quiky snack with quial eggs diped in flour, it taste sooooo good, I really like street foods, dont care what they say i just love to eat them..... no pretensions.... but i like fish balls more, ill be posting next the best fish balls in manila, located at EDSA near LRT Shagrila mall.
before when I arrive home from city hall I walk 5 km per day and after i have a 20 peso snacks of fish balls diped in the hot spicy sauce, after i walk to the nearest 711 to beat the spicy taste with as cocacola lite

in 1970's after playing basketball at malibay plaza everyafternoon, i use to try all the street ffods there namely
1. scramble - ice shavings of strawberry syrup, a real heat beater
2. bola bola - fish balls the best and original, lately they have squidballs for the "higher class" but for us ordinary mortals we prefer the old recipe formulae.
3. BBQ pugo - near malibay plaza there use to ba a stall pwned by patrick chen, who marinates pugo and chicken bar b que almost perfectly,
4. WALASTIK- are hashed meats of the local abatoirs which are stewed in thck broth
5. Gising Gising are chopseuy type vegetables with more than enough chilies to bite .

these are some of the things i get used to , in my hih school days when my classmates and friends regulary sleep in our house ( bec i was not allowed to sleep anywhere except home, i can just invite as many classmates and friends to sleep in our house even for several days)
