Father and Son facinations about travel....

alleganey airlines, i have been a passenger f ther flight from charleston wv to washington DC, it was a single engine propeler driven aircraft, this is my first and last time i would ride a prop plane, its cruising altitute is less than 10,000 feet, and its all noise in the cabin. the take off of such small aircraft is very diffeent from jet powered where in the prop rpm is full, then they release the brakes on take off run.

ive travel down to mexico in 1967 with my father and mama odeng , just driving all the way south from los angeles and we are all set to step omn mexican soil, upon reaching 30 km deep into mexico we are apprehended by police motorcycle police, who was yelling "alto alto alto" as we translated it to our philippine spanish it means high high high........ but instead in mexican spanish it is an order to stop......
later i had a haircut in mexico besides the police staton

of all the united states cities that i visited in my lifetime, washington DC is the most beutiful, historical and memorable city i have been. in 1980's my parents toured DC in detail, sometimes on foot .ive been to the white house, jefferson memorial, lincoln memorial, smitsonian, pentagon, the mall, montecello, potomac. fords theather blair house, the mint, potomac cruise.
In highschool, while on my summer break i sometimes have a short visit there alone to my old friends in downtown washington."abet eusebio" well nothing much to see wachington after so many visit there, but we just past the time in a pub where i learn to know more of Michaelob beer
While in the United States, one of the cities we will visit is Miami Florida, during those times, I was very much afraid about the Bermuda Triangle, and i know that 45 miles from the coast of Florida is the beginning of the Bermuda triangle, while we were at Charleston South Carolina, I cry and cry and beg my dad to by pass Miami because of the Bermuda triangle, after a heated discusion we by pass it and we kiss our flight and hotel cost in that city....
In 1972, my father and i seriously plan to make our 2nd round the world tour, as we were finalizing for cities to tour, we both like to set foot in Greenland, we even ask our travel agent, Ms Paraluman to make arragement for Greenland and Russia, it did not materializes bec, in order to go to Greenland one must take aKeflavik< href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo2brjS-iyTpZrzTx0xFaNtPZUuAiTN8DWGz5EDNgk94JpBQLMBkaJTvRWIvFg7r7w-daLDzMZKkdPcO6OL6kOtlOn7M3CElEX8MiEQ4c950CO0hjM-P4L0a0gQmwPRK5evgMPnX2ryXmM/s1600-h/greenland3.jpg">

here are some of the worlds famous sky scrappers that i have set my foot on the top floor or observation deck. the one i like most is the empire state building at 23rd street. they are the: john hancock bldg in chicago , sear roebuck in chigago, WTC in Manhattan, and empire state building in midtown manhatann..

My Dream get away........... turtle island, and trans siberian

I like travelling, the turtle islands near thubathha reef was always in our plan to visit, but it never did push thru because of the islamic rebelion and peace and order in the south.

the tran siberian rail travel from moscow to vladivostok is the ultimate travel adventure for me
new culture
new terrain
harsh and un predictable passage in deep russian countryside

corregidor island, almost every weekend .......

since 1967, i have visited corregidor for more or less 30 times, sometimes almost every week, this is where we treat our staff, friends, suporters, even warring gangs in this island.
We ask the philippine Navy to lend us ships, fof the whole afternoon, sometimes we dock at the north side , but more often in the usual south side dock, toured it inside out, all the gun emplacements, secret passage.... ghost huntings. white lady,

watergate hotel complex, DC

This is the Watergate Hotel Complex at Washington DC, became so famous in 1974 during Nixon Presidency.

we stayed at this hotel in 1977 when we extensively toured the capital

I first visited Washington DC in 1970, with my mother and the ate Linda my mom's best friend, on our round the world tour, we fly in from New York and landed at Dulles airport, it was so amazing the terminal was so far from the parked airliners, we were transported to the planes by mobile concourse.

We rented a DC cab and the driver serve as our guide. thru out the city.

bullet proof cars and security arrangements

in the heat of battles some people lend us vehicles with bullet resistant glass , blast proof flooring's and side panels.

your air con should be working at its best because, the side windows cannot be rolled down for fresh air to come in .

One of the car is an innocent looking Gallant sedan, you would not know about its defensive agility unless you are inside the vehicle

MANILA'S good eats

ive tried the maki here, better than ha yuan

excelente hams is located at Quiapo, manila, one of the three best chinese ham makers here, others are Majestic at Lee street, Mandaluyong and Adelina Ham also in Mandaluyong

she stays with me at school always from pre nursery in sta rosa, kinder at don bosco and grade shool grades one to seven at de la salle taft. she ha s a small stool, a big bag ang stays just outside the door till the bells ring, and when we drive home with our driver mang sario or pilayo, my grand mother usually have merienda for me examples are: adobo rolls from bungalow restaurant, chicken pie from goldilocks.
she makes the best adobo, the dry ones with alot of garlic, my dad bought her a house at recarte street bangkal, i spent weekends there, and i use to keep all my toys there. she is a very strict, very loving grandmother.
her favorite food is crisp pata at barrio pilipino, before she had a micro stroke that is the food she ordered
her favorite movie is dr zivago, and the song some where my love..............
i felt guilty, because in 1984 we should have cancelled our US trip to stayed with her so that she could recover, when we arrived she seemed deteriorated

MY FUTURE LAWYER

the office table being used by Joanne is the same study desk my father had in his library / office in malibay during his first term as mayor 1968-1971

OUR PATRON SAINT, SAN JUAN NEPOMOCENO

SAN JUAN NEPOMOCENO, ALSO KNOWN AT ST JOHN NEPOMUKSan Juan Nepomoceno is a priest who was forced by the king to reveal to him the contents of the confession of the queen, he refuse to divulge the confession as mandated by his oath to God unil he was killed for insubordination to the king. he was beheaded. and his head thrown out in the river over the bridge.

In Europe he is the Patron saint of Bridges, some newly biult bridges are blessed by his prayers. In our Church he is seen in a pedestal standing over the bridge.

He is the protector from floods, destructions and to prevent bridges from falling.

I have seen a connection with our patron saint, which i joyfully tease my father, tha san juan nepomoceno used him during his congress days to up keep, repair, upgrade the bridges in his districts, namely, Don Carlos Bridge, Culi culi bridge rehab, neighborhood bridge, galolo bridge, jun hitler bridge, cansino- makat bridge, concorde drainage project NAIA, tramo bridge along bgy 157 along Imelda avenue, these are all his projects plus some other minor bridges in Villamor .

maybe it is just conincidence,

MY FAVORITE PICTURE OF MY WIFE, ARLENE, AND DAUGHTHER JOANNE
this picture was taken at 1983,
at Joannes nursery now being used as a kitchen cu dinning room

tomas claudio, a hero in verdum?

the first filipino to die in ww one in the western front

I have mixed feeling about the heroic deeds of my namesake hero Tomas Claudio, he hails from Morong Rizal.... in those times Rizal provice was caled province of Morong.

The circunstance of his death is quite strange, no heroic deeds no medals no testimony of in the battlefield just plain FIRST filipino to die in WW one.

i research about Tomas Claudio, he is not a soldier from the philippines but a US resident, already living and working in USA, the president then did not approve the recruitment of soldiers from its colonial territories. he vounteer to fight in world war one...
