when i was in grade one at La Salle Taft, I use to rent my classmates dinosaur book for 1 peso per day...... 1968, i read it for 1 whole school year... at the end of the school year he gave the book to me and i was so grateful i gave him a toy for it.... when i went home i told my tutor about it and she discovered that the book cost 2.50 at alemars then.

in my childhood, i was not allowed to read any comics books , except the classical brands by my father. comic books are no no, i dont know details about seven dwafs, snow white, little mermaids , and etc, i was told stories about alexander the great, alfred the great, napoleon bonaparte, , tsar nikolas, TDR, FDR, i remember vividly a lazy afternoon in our house while my dad had his hair cut with his barber "encio" he was reading me a book about Alexander the great, in detail...... i remember his horse name "BOSEPALUS" who was wounded in battle in India and did not die yet while his Master was in the battlefield.

my wife always tease me that i have no childhood while growing up, no cartoons, no fairy tales...... well that may be true, now i read and watch cartoons for my kids

my favorite book was a pocket book i bought at national book store in QUAD when i was in grade 7 titled rise to globalism..... since then i was facinated with cold wars, warsaw pact, NATO, FULDA gap, NORAD , DEW line, MAD (mutual assured destruction) MIRV (multiple independent re entry vehicle), SLBM, SSN, CVAN CVA, BB, DD, DE DLG DLGN) that means... submarine launched balistic missle, ssn ,means submanine nuclear propulsion, cvan- carrier attack nuclear powered, cva- carrier, fossil powered, bb- battleship, dd destroyer. de- destroyer escort, dlgn- destroyer large giuded missle, nuclear power.....
