Midas hotel and casino, formerly hyatt regency manila, savoy , sheraton. pasay city first 5 star hotel in 1968. for the first time it has a casino operations, i was spearheading the oppositors for it violate the 200 meter rule, I consulted our lawyers but the 200 meter was defective ? i measure it myself it was 65 meters from san juan de dios hospital
Iam still researching for laws that prohibit casinos besides hospitals and schools at this moment
The establishment and operation of casino operation in Midas Hotel and Casino is a clear violation of republic act 1224. our local Sangunian cannot dictate, ammend or modify the 200 meter rule to 50 meters. pwede lang eto pag sabungan, hindi pwede lalo na pag casino. hindi pwede mas mataas pa ang lokal na resolution na baguhin ang isang Republic act.

legality will definitely varies from one place to another depending on country/society norms. But in the Philippines, i don't think so.
